New content, fast loading pages and other technical optimizations are all important to your SEO efforts. But your online reputation is what really counts. With the Internet filling up with content, Google and other search engines are placing more emphasis than ever on your social shares and other backlinks. If you look at Kissmetrics search factors, you will see that social shares have major correlation with high SEO rankings.
Keeping up with this trend doesn’t require a huge investment. In fact, you can let others do most of the work for you.

1. Give Them Like, Share and Tweet Buttons

People broadcast every moment of their lives on Facebook and Twitter. At minimum, your website should have like, share and tweet buttons on every page. If there’s a niche social media platform that’s relevant to you, add those buttons as well.

2. Help Your Customers Share Events

When it comes to sharing your website, customers might do it if they really like you. When it comes to sharing a specific event, a large portion of customers will automatically do it if you make it easy.
If you’re hosting an event, put an “I’m attending…” buttons on the confirmation page that lets customers tell their friends with one click. If you’re selling a product, many customers like to share their purchase with friends, so add an “I just bought…” button to the order confirmation page.
In addition to the increased social shares, you’ll most likely pick up sales from their followers who decide they want to go to your event or buy your product as well.

3. Make Click-Bait Your Friend

People joke about article titles like “Two Simple Tricks to…” or “Experts Hate This…,” but the reason they’re so widely used is that they work. If you want people to post links to your content, there needs to be some sort of cool factor that makes them want to share it.
Of course, you need more than just a catchy title. If you don’t deliver what your viewers are looking for, they might quickly click away. This could signal to search engines that people aren’t finding your website useful and cause it to be ranked lower.
On the other hand, if you deliver great content and a compelling reason to buy your product or service, you’ll see more sales and social media shares from satisfied customers.

4. Share Your Content Yourself!

Unless you are a major blog or publication, chances are people are not coming to your blog everyday to read it. You will most likely need to give your content a boost by sharing it on you company blog and getting you and your employees to share it across all major social channels to build traction.

5. Share on Niche Groups

Simply sharing on Linkedin or Twitter is great, but there are many niche places to share specific types of content that will be more relevant to people like Inbound.org, Linkedin groups, Facebook groups, Bizsugar, and much more depending on your industry and the type of content you create.
