Trellis is constantly evaluating the eCommerce landscape. The platform landscape has changed dramatically over the last few years with more and more companies moving to SaaS products like Shopify. Open source platforms are still going strong, however, such as WooCommerce, the eCommerce plugin to WordPress that has grown to become by far the most used eCommerce platform by sheer numbers.

Trellis is now partnering with Zoey, a new eComerce platform helping SMB companies evolve online. Zoey is a SaaS platform that offers a unique opportunity to the eCommerce world in that it has the feature richness of the Magento platform, but the ease of use of a platform like Shopify. The interesting thing about Zoey is that it offers fairly unique B2B eCommerce functionality for an affordable SaaS platform that other platforms like Shopify and BigCommerce have more difficulty providing out of the box.

Trellis envisions Zoey becoming a stronger player in the platform ecosystem as more and more companies look to the benefits of SaaS to grow their online operation while managing budgets to achieve profitability in eCommerce.

Manufacturers and distributors have a tough time getting online profitability because eCommerce is so expensive to implement when it comes to some of the mid-tier and enterprise B2B eCommerce platforms. Other more cost effective platforms like Shopify or WooCommerce lack the B2B tools that many manufacturers and distributer’s need. Zoey fills this gap and will be a great addition to the Trellis technology stack.
