JOB DESCRIPTION

Shopify Frontend Developer (Contractor)

Trellis is looking for a contractor available for 20 to 40 hours per week to work on some of our Shopify E- Commerce projects.  Here is the background we are seeking:

  • Has a foundational understanding of proper HTML and CSS webpage construction.
  • Has done liquid template development on 3 or more prior projects and can submit a small portfolio of recent work and/or a code sample as proof.
  • Has utilized one or more JavaScript frameworks.  JQuery is used on many themes, but experience using a more modern framework like React, Vue or Angular are a bonus.
  • Has prior experience working within a 4- to 6-person development team.
  • Is familiar with using Git to create branches and push new code changes and can create pull requests for the technical lead to code review.
  • Prior experience using the Atlassian suite of software development management software (JIRA, Confluence and BitBucket) is preferred.
  • Prior experience editing Shopify scripts in Ruby is a nice bonus, but not a requirement.
  • Can demonstrate a proven track record of following through with deadlines and keeping on top of new tasks.

Furthermore, we have the following requirements:

  • Must be willing and able to communicate daily in well-written English via email, Slack and JIRA, and occasionally in understandable spoken English on internal calls.
  • Must be able to overlap at least half of their working hours with Trellis’s office hours of 9am to 6pm Eastern US time.
  • Must be prepared to comment on tickets and keep the team notified on progress before signing off each day.
  • Must keep their project manager aware of their current workload, so the team can help the contractor moving along smoothly with a steady flow of new work.
