Shopify Editions: Its Impact on The Shopify Landscape

Shopify Editions is a twice-a-year announcement, that covers all the many changes and upgrades to Shopify in one process. This way you can learn many new things about Shopify in one place, without having to look for hundreds of little updates individually. It’s a relatively new concept. Shopify had its third summer edition in July, after the first one only a year ago in the summer of 2022.

The most recent announcement boasts 100 plus product improvements. We explored some of them in our Partner Updates blog before. We believe this changes the Shopify landscape because it shows people how fast Shopify is innovating. It also trains people to look for major releases twice a year.

What do Shopify and Apple Have in Common?

Shopify is really embracing the community and helping build a fan base, almost like Apple has done in previous years, especially with Steve Jobs legendary product announcements. We believe the Shopify community and market will only accelerate with the recent improvement of Shopify Editions.

Our Favorite Updates

One of our favorite announcements from Shopify Editions this summer was the bundled product update. Bundles have always been an issue in Shopify, and now it’s become much easier to make them work! We also believe Shopify Collective has huge potential to make it much easier to grow a retail brand.  Now you can add products to your store in minutes, and earn margin on what you sell. It provides automated payments, order syncing, and inventory management. By being able to offer and curate other brands that could complement your brand, there is huge potential for smaller retailers to grow into mid-size or even larger retailers.

Shopify Editions has really changed Shopify. First, it groups all the big updates, which makes people look forward to and talk about Shopify more. Also, by following Apple’s example, Shopify is turning users into fans who eagerly await updates twice a year. Moreover, improvements like the Bundles App are solving old issues and helping stores to grow better. Finally, with new tools that help teamwork and sales, Shopify Editions is leading to fast advancements and bigger growth for retailers.
