Every Business Should Invest Heavily in Their Logo

Every business needs a logo, regardless of how small or large your business is. A logo is the identity of your business and it is what customers remember you by. Large companies have a universally recognizable logo so that anyone anywhere in the world knows what is represented by that one simple symbol.

I can’t tell you how many times I have been to a business or consulted with a business that does not have a real logo. A logo should be in vector format, meaning it can be expanded or reduced without losing its quality. A logo made in Adobe Photoshop or paint is not the proper format for a logo. It must be made in Adobe Illustrator or another vector based program.

Sending me a jpeg or png is not sending me your logo, but simply a web version of your logo. In fact, you want to make sure you have your logo in .png and .jpeg format for web, and .tiff or CMYK for print. Otherwise the quality of the logo will be compromised for web and print if it is not configured for the right format.

If you have the money to hire a professional logo firm do so, but some can charge upwards of 500 dollars if not several thousand or more for a new logo. However, if money is an issue the best thing you could do would be to find a freelancer that can design a logo in Adobe Illustrator for less than a professional design agency.  Another option would be to go to https://99designs.com/ and try and get a cheaper logo for under 500 dollars.

Make sure your logo is simple, represents your business, and can be used everywhere you will be putting your company brand. If you need multiple versions for different types of marketing such as social media, print, and web, then pay the extra money to have the different versions you will need. Make sure a version of your logo can fit into the 250 by 250px Facebook business page image and other marketing outlets.

Once you have your logo in place, then it is time to start spreading your brand so that people begin to recognize the symbol you have created to represent your business. The saying don’t judge a book by its cover does not apply to business. Every person, whether they realize it or not, has a psychological attachment to the images and logos that represent the businesses they go to. Therefore, do your best to make sure your logo is one that brings about a positive psychological memory.
